A Eunice mother and son have gone to pot and to jail.
Officials with the Eunice Police Department narcotics division recently investigated drug activity between a mother and her son.
Justin Bartram, 21, was arrested on Thursday after he was observed walking on West Maple Ave with a “blunt” behind his left ear, according to Eunice Police.
According to investigators, a “blunt” is a marijuana cigar– which is wrapped in a tobacco leaf wrapper from a cigar rather than paper.
Detectives then retrieved the “blunt” for inspection and found that it contained suspected marijuana.
Laura Bartram, 43, the mother of Justin, arrived on scene and asked officers why her son was being detained. She was told about the “blunt” and both were detained for further investigation after they allegedly revealed that they smoke marijuana together.
Police then searched the apartment where they both reside. The search at the apartment, located at 821 S Beulah, yielded marijuana stems, smoking devices, a grinder, and zip lock baggies which are all used to consume, process, or package marijuana.
A 32 caliber revolver was also located and seized from the apartment.
Both mother and son were taken into custody on warrants related to the case.
Both appeared before 27th Judicial District Judge Alonzo Harris this morning.
Bond was set at $12,000 for Justin Bartram and $15,000 for Laura Bartram.
Both are still in the Eunice City Jail at this time.
