Former state senator, registrar of voters

ALEXANDRIA – Services for former state senator, registrar of voters and minister the Rev. B.G. Dyess will be Wednesday. He died Feb. 18 at age 90.

He was a Baptist minister for more than 70 years, Rapides Registrar of Voters for 24 years and served one term in the Louisiana Senate, choosing not to seek a second term because of his late first wife’s illness.

Survivors include his wife Billie, six children and three step-children.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Tujague's owner

NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Wednesday for Steven Latter, owner of Tujague’s, the historic French Quarter restaurant known for boiled brisket and its neighborhood bar. He died Feb. 18 at age 64.

He and his brother bought the restaurant, founded in 1856, in 1982.

Survivors include his wife Miriam, a son and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Gates of Prayer.

Quarter horseman

KAPLAN – Services for former auto dealer, oil and gas man and quarter horse owner C. Wade Navarre will be Tuesday. He died Feb. 17 at age 81.

He once had an Oldsmobile/Cadillac dealership in Lafayette. His Louisiana-bred quarter horse MrTruckajet won the All-American Futurity in Ruidoso, N.M.

Survivors include his wife Codrey, six sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Martin & Castille, Lafayette.

CPA, civic leader

CLINTON – Services for CPA and civic leader Garland Bryant, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Feb. 13 at age 71.

He was past president of the Baker Chamber of Commerce and of the Gas District No. 2 board and the RKM board.

Survivors include his wife Glyn and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Charlet.
