Former ULL Alumni secretary

LAFAYETTE – Services for longtime ULL Alumni Affairs secretary Ada Trenchard will be Saturday. She died March 11 at age 94.

She was the first secretary of the office, holding the Civil Service post for 20 years.

Survivors include two sons.

Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.

Former state fire marshal

COVINGTON – Services will be Thursday for former State Fire Marshal Hillary Fry. He died March 8 at age 68.

He was fire marshal under Gov. Kathleen Blanco from 2004-2007 and was assistant fire marshal prior to that.

Survivors include three children.

Arrangements are by Lakelawn.

LSU publicist, religion editor

BATON ROUGE – Services for former LSU public relations person and newspaper religion editor Nick Kalivoda will be Saturday. He died March 10 at age 90.

He was founder of the Radio Bible Course and was a biblical lecturer at LSU for more than 10 years. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a former religion editor for the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, three sons and three step-daughters.

Long-time school board memberGUEYDAN – Services for long-time School Board member Ira “Bill” Searle, Jr. will be Saturday. He died March 11 at age 84.

He was a Vermilion School Board member for almost 18 years. and was on the boards of the Vermilion Parish Soil Conservation Board and the Vermilion Parish Bank.

Survivors include his wife Caldonia, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Matthews & Son.
