BATON ROUGE – Services will be Thursday for wildlife and fisheries consultant and former assistant director of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission Richard “Dick” Yancey. He died March 19 at age 88.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He had also been executive director of the Miss. Dept. of Wildlife Conservation and received numerous state, national and international awards for his contributions to resource management. He was and acknowledged waterfowl and conservation expert.
Survivors include his wife Susan and three children.
Arrangements are by Resthaven.
Physician, resort owner
SHREVEPORT – Services will be Friday for physician and nursing home and resort owner Dr. William Broyles. He died March 19 at age 88.
He and his brother Joe operated The Broyles Clinic and Hospital in Leesville. He later opened and operated Kurthwood Manor Nursing Home and purchased and operated Toro Hills Country Club at Hodges Gardens.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters.

Marine pioneer
PATTERSON – Services for marine pioneer Capt. Dewey Wilson will be Thursday. He died March 18 at age 84.
He was a Merchant Marines veteran of World War II and later a US Army paratrooper. He was one of Tidex’s first captains to deliver boats internationally. In a 22-year career at Tidewater and Seahorse, he delivered boats to 51 countries and retired at Seahorse as manager of international operations. He was one of the first instructors in the Marine Department at Young Memorial Technical College.
Survivors include his wife Melba and two daughters.

Subdivision designer
SHREVEPORT – Services for civil engineer Ben Atchley, Sr. will be March 27. He died at age 90.
He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and president of Atchley & Atchley. The civil engineering and land surveying firm designed many of the subdivisions in Shreveport-Bossier City.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Osborn.
Vo-ag teacher
PINEVILLE – Services for vocational-agriculture teacher Rodney Cotton will be Thursday. He died March 18 at age 69.
He taught vo-ag at Dry Prong High and Tioga High schools for more than 30 years. He was long-time member and most recently president of the CENLA Federal Credit Union, on the board of La. Sheep Producers Assn. and on the LSU Livestock Show Advisory Council.
Survivors include his wife Katie and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros., Pineville.
County agent
GRAMERCY – Services for long-time county agent Kermit Coulon will be Saturday. He died March 19 at age 84.
He worked 40 years for LSU Cooperative Extension Service and was district agent and county agent for the cane belt region. He was a member of the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife Neva and several children.
Arrangements are by Roselynn.
LSU math teacher
BATON ROUGE – Services for LSU math researcher and teacher Dr. Chartles Egedy, Jr. will be Thursday. He died March 15 at age 62.
He was former director of research and development for Ferro Corp.’s Grant Chemical Division. He joined LSU in 1999. He was president of the La. State Poetry Society.
