Basile cruises to win over Red Devils

LEESVILLE - The Basile High Bearcats scored points in every quarter to take a 29-15 win over the Pickering Red Devils here Friday night.

The Bearcats struck first in the opening quarter on an 18-yard run by Matt Pruitt. Logan Langley’s PAT kick made it 7-0.

The Red Devils answered back with a two-yard scoring run by Joseph Lee. Lee ran for the two-point conversion to give Pickering High School an 8-7 lead.

The Bearcats regained the lead in the second quarter thanks to a 22-yard field goal by Langley. But Pickering’s Zack Roberts scored on a six-yard run and Lee kicked the PAT to give the Red Devils a 15-10 advantage.

Matt Pruitt’s 13-yard scoring run before half put the Bearcats on top by a 16-15 margin.

The Bearcats would seal the victory by outscoring the Red Devils 13-0 in the second half.

Langley hit a 25-yard field in the third quarter to extend the lead to 19-15. Basile running back Jake Fournerat, who finished the game with 19 carries for 68 yards, scored on a two-yard run in the third quarter, with Langley hitting the PAT for a 26-15 lead.

Langley ended the scoring in the fourth quarter with his third field goal - a 27-yard effort that put the final score at 29-15.Kevin Hardy led the Bearcats in rushing with 11 carries for 110 yards. Pruitt added 75 yards on 11 attempts.

Pickering was led in rushing by Andre Flint, with 40 yards on 11 carries. Andre Porter caught two passes for 71 yards for the Red Devils.

Basile next plays host to East Beauregard.
