The Bearcats jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead when Dylan Matte scored on a 3-yard run and Logan Langley kicked the extra point.
Basile exploded for 20 second quarter points begun when Nick Bertrand hauled in a 32-yard pass from Matt Pruitt.
Pruitt then scored on a 5-yard run before Langley nailed field goals of 20 and 37 yards.
Matte added another touchdown in the third quarter and Kevin Hardy closed out the scoring with a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Basile rolled up 447 yards of total offense with 252 rushing and 195 yards through the air.
The Bearcat defense limited Merryville to just four first downs and 130 yard of total offense.
Matte finished with 115 yards on 15 carries, while Jake Fournerat added 94 yards on 10 carries.
Pruitt completed 13-of-21 passes for 195 yards for the Bearcats.
Bertrand had three receptions for 93 yards and a score. Fournerat had three catches for 40 yards, while Matte had two receptions for 33 yards and Drake Ledoux had five catches for 29 yards.
The Bearcats entertain winless South Cameron (0-8) this week.
LHS 20, Iota 6
LIVONIA - The Iota Bulldogs were holding on to a glimmer of playoff hope with two wins and three games left, while the Livonia Wildcats sat with only one win and looked to remove itself from a four game losing streak on homecoming night.
A big second quarter for the Wildcats led to Livonia moving to 2-6 on the year with a 20-6 victory. Iota lost their fourth game in a row, moving to 2-6 as well.
Iota’s offense appeared to be on the verge of scoring a touchdown on their first possession, but a fumble and a big play led to a quick score by Livonia and once again, the Bulldogs found themselves trying to play catch up.
Iota would answer and pull within one point on an 8-yard run by Bryant Fantroy before Livonia scored 13 unanswered points.
Brentan LaCour would finish the night with 24 carries for 149 yards, including a 45 yard rush, a touchdown, interception and four yards on a reception.
Mason Torres, meanwhile, finished the night with 12 completions out of 19 attempts and 138 yards, an interception and two touchdowns. Torres had three of his passes go for 19, 19 and 20 yards respectively.
Iota had their chances throughout the game, particularly in the second half. The Bulldogs’ defense kept Livonia off the scoreboard, but a lengthy third quarter drive by the Wildcats and mistakes by Iota kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard as well.
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Thomas Murrell who put up 110 total yards against Livonia. Murrell carried the ball 13 times for 67 yards and passed for 43 yards, completing three of his 13 passes and throwing an interception.
Close behind him rushing was again Kyle Leger with 50 yards on 15 carries.
Iota will host winless Pine Prairie (0-8, 0-5) for homecoming and the Bulldogs’ final home game of the season.
Kinder 28, Mamou 6
MAMOU - The Mamou Green Demons fell to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in District 5-2A action with a 28-6 loss to Kinder.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kinder took a 7-0 lead when Wesley Hayes scored on a 30-yard pass from Blake Trahan. Devaughn Thompson’s kick was good.
Mamou closed the gap to 7-6 in the third period when Alex Vidrine scored on a 15-yard run but the extra point kick was no good.
The Yellow Jackets responded when Marshall Harmon scored on a 20-yard run in the third quarter.
Harmon added a one-yard run and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to push Kinder ahead 21-6.
Kinder sealed the win when Kade Van Norman caught a 37-yard scoring pass from Trahan. Thompson’s kick increased the lead to 28-6.
Harmon finished with 146 yards rushing on 21 carries for Kinder as the Yellow Jackets gained 275 yards of total offense.
Vidrine led Mamou with 58 yards on 13 carries, while Ben Israel added 51 yards on 15 carries as the Green Demons finished with 121 yards of total offense.
