NEW ROADS - St. Edmund remained in the battle for second place in District 5-1A and a playoff spot as the Blue Jays and Lady Jays both earned road wins over False River Academy Friday night.

The Lady Jays jumped out to a 26-2 halftime lead and rolled to a 55-17 victory.

St. Edmund (8-10, 4-2) outscored FRA 15-4, 14-8 in the second half to seal the win.

Maggie Miller led St. Edmund with 13 points including three treys in the second period.

Catherine Bowie chipped 11 points for the Lady Jays.

The Blue Jays trailed 11-9 early in the boys contest but St. Edmund regrouped to earn a 71-46 win over the Gators.

St. Edmund (6-10, 3-2) outscored the Gators 26-15, 25-17 in the second half to pull away from winless FRA.

Christian "Pookie" McFarlain scored 18 points and Adam Wimberley chipped in 15, while Hunter Arnaud and Tyler Vidrine each scored 11 points in the win.

Aaron Boudreaux led FRA with 29 points.

St. Edmund entertains Port Barre on Tuesday in a non-district clash before visiting Catholic-Point Coupee on Friday.
