The Eunice High Bobcats looked overmatched in the first half against the ninth-ranked Crowley High Gents Tuesday night at the Bobcat gym.

Crowley (12-7, 2-0) moved into the Class 3A Top Ten in this week’s poll and sent a message that they wanted to stay there with 15-7 and 18-9 advantages in the first two quarters.

But Coach Robert Trent’s Bobcats battled back in the second half, outscoring the Gents 15-8 and 15-14 in the final two quarters to make it a 55-46 final.

“Crowley had the size and speed advantage over us, but we adjusted and made it a game in the second half,” commented Coach Trent. “We played hard against a good team and our guys deserve a lot of credit for not quitting.”

Crowley’s Jerrell Andrus had 10 points in the first half to lead the way for the Gents. Andrus would finish as Crowley’s top scorer for the game with 15 points. Davante Bourque and Damon Malbrough each added eight points for the Gents, with Kaleb Cormer and Tuskani Figaro adding seven and six, respectively.

Sophomore Trenon Trosclair provided the spark for the Bobcats in the third quarter as he scored eight points as the Cats closed the gap on the Gents. Trosclair would finish as the game’s leading scorer with 16 points. Seniors D’aundric Johnson and Vondray Vallare each added nine points for the Bobcats.

Rounding out the Eunice scoring were Warren Guidry, with five; Ben Allison, with four; and Damar Robinson with three.

The Bobcats (5-10, 1-1) will hit the road Friday to face Church Point in 4-3A action.
