After allowing 474 yards of total offense in the 42-17 loss to Marksville, Eunice High head coach Paul Trosclair is hopeful his Bobcats regroup quickly when they entertain Cecilia on Friday.
“There are two things you have to handle in football,” Trosclair said. “You have to handle success and you have to recover from the tough losses.”
Cecilia suffered a 13-6 loss to Church Point last week to fall to 1-2 on the season.
D’Andre Dartez rushed for 86 yards on 12 carries for the Bulldogs.
He also caught two passes for 80 yards including a 44-yard touchdown from quarterback Tyler Robin.
Robin completed 6-of-22 passes with an interception.
“It is going to be a battle as they don’t give up much on defense,” Trosclair said of the Bulldogs.
Church Point rolled up 204 yards on the ground against Cecilia, while the Bears allowed 240 yards of total offense.
“We have to go out and play some good football against a talented team.
“While they are 1-2, every game they lost could have gone either way.”
The Bulldogs lost 28-14 to Jennings before downing Beau Chene, 18-15.
“They run the ball first but they have the ability to throw it,” the Bobcat coach pointed out.
This is the first of three straight home games Eunice, a fact that pleases the coach.
“We want to be on a winning note heading into district and playing at home should help,” he said. “This is a good time to get something going.”
One of the bright spots against Marksville was the 318 yards of total offense including 182 yards through the air.
EHS junior quarterback Trenon Trosclair completed 4-of-11 passes with two touchdowns of 54-and 64-yards.to Travus Woods.
“We need to get more plays and score more points,” the coach said.
