The Eunice High Bobcats rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 victory over the Crowley High Gents in Summer League Baseball action Thursday evening at Bobcat Field.

Crowley took the lead in the top of the first inning off Bobcat starting pitcher Taylor Aguillard.

The Gents used a walk, a single, and a two-run double by Ben Broussard to go on top.

The Cats cut into the lead by scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning.

Hayden Pitre drew a two-out walk, stole second base, and scored when Drake Fruge reached first base on an infield error.

Aguillard worked a scoreless second inning before giving way to Blaise Lejeune in the third inning.

Lejeune would finish the game, earning the mound win with five innings of shutout baseball.

He scattered three hits, walked two, and struck out three.

The Cats tied the game with a run in the third inning.

John Ross Johnson was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Johnson stole second base, tagged up to advance to third on Jake Sonnier fly out, and scored when Drake Fruge, who had walked, got caught in a rundown at first base on a called pick play.

Crowley reliever Caleb Istre came on in the fourth, but would give up the tie-breaking run in the fifth inning. Luke Larson was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on an errant pick attempt, and scored as Johnson doubled in the right-center field gap.

Lejeune and his defense made the 3-2 lead stand over the final two innings.

Johnson’s double, along with a second-inning double by Clay Francois were the only hits for the Bobcats. Crowley finished with six hits.

The Cats will wrap up Summer League play this coming week when they host Notre Dame and Opelousas Catholic on Monday and Thursday, respectively.

Both games are set for a 5:30 start.
