According to Eunice Police radio logs, a report came in about a blue Chevy truck parked in the back corner of the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express at 5:50 p.m.
Eunice Police Chief Ronald Dies said an employee at the business detected a foul odor coming from the truck, and discovered a body on the floorboard of the pickup.
Dies said the employee told him the truck had been parked in the lot since Sunday afternoon.
Dies said the body was identified as John Vidrine by a family member.
Dies said St. Landry Parish Coroner Toby Savoy ruled that Vidrine had died of natural causes, most likely from a heart attack.
“It appeared from all indications Vidrine died of natural causes; we found no signs of foul play, and it was confirmed he had a history of medical problems,” Dies said.
