Last year, Claiborne Christian swept both the Class C softball and baseball state titles.
One year later, the West Monroe-based school swept to the titles again, with a little added bonus from a panel of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Claiborne Christian’s Chad Olinde was selected as the Coach of the Year, while senior Jake Bell and junior Kara Anderson brought home Outstanding Player honors in baseball and softball, respectively.
Olinde guided Claiborne Christian to its third straight Class C state championship, while Bell was the ace of the pitching staff, finishing with a record of 11-7.
Anderson owned a record of 18-2-2 en route to leading CCA's softball team to a second straight championship with a win in the finals over Hackberry and Coach of the Year honoree Angie Little.
Claiborne Christian also landed several other players on the all-state squad in both baseball and softball.
Bell was joined on the team by freshman Zach Osbon (6-2), senior Kip Robinson (.326) and senior Jesse Butler (.304), while Anderson’s teammates Angel Hamilton (.312), Jerrica Bennett (.447) and Bailey
Burroughs (.352) are on the softball squad.
Little saw three of her Lady Mustangs named to the all-state softball team in senior Amber Byler (15-2-1), freshman Sami Little (.361) and junior Erica Duhon (.328).
Grace Christian of Alexandria, the runner-up to CCA in baseball, landed three players on the team in senior pitcher Daniel Margheim (10-2), senior Jeremy Fontenot (8-4) and senior Chaston LaCaze (.596).
St. Joseph of Plaucheville and Starks each had three players on the softball team. St. Joseph senior Natalie Plauche (.423), who was a candidate for Outstanding Player, joined forces with senior teammate
Katie Gauthier (.358) and sophomore Baylee Lacombe on the squad, while Starks was represented by senior Amy Johnson (23-7-1), junior Baleigh Bussell (.404) and sophomore Gabby Miller (.375).
Rounding out the all-state softball squad were the Calvin duo of sophomore Amber Canerday (11-4) and junior Dareesha Sims (.333), along with Grace Christian junior Jessica Wilmore (.386).
State semifinalists Hicks and Family Christian each had two players named to the baseball squad. Hicks was represented by senior Seth Wellman (.496) and junior Zakk Rogerson (.461), while Family Christian
landed freshman Tyler Randall (.394) and sophomore Michael Glasper (.423) on the team.
