The Eunice Oilers went 2-2 in the Louisiana Invitational wood bat tournament held at LSU Eunice and Eunice High this past weekend.

After a 1-0 loss to the Mississippi Titans on Friday, the Oilers recorded a 6-5 win over the Bellhaven Jays on Saturday.

Eunice dropped a 9-2 decision to the Louisiana All-Stars on Saturday before closing out play with a 4-2 win over the Baton Rouge Raiders on Sunday.

Gauthier Amadee captured the Invitational title with a 10-8 win over the Titans after a 8-7 victory over the Louisiana Aces in the semifinals.

The Titans advanced to the finals with a 7-6 win over the Louisiana All-Stars 16 year olds.

Eunice 6, Jays 5

Bellhaven scored twice in the first inning and grabbed a 2-1 lead over the Oilers. Eunice scored when Tyler Fontenot walked and scored on a double from Stuart Turner.

Both teams pushed a run across in the second as the Jays held a 3-2 advantage. Eunice’s Brody Olivier (1-for-2) singled and scored on a single by Martin Seemion (2-for-3).

The Oilers scored twice in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead over Bellhaven.

Turner (2-for-3) reached base and scored on a passed ball, while Trent Vidrine reached on an error and scored on a sacrifice by Wesley Chachere.

Both teams pushed across two runs in the sixth inning as the Oilers pulled out the win.

Beau Leger walked, Seemion singled and both scored on a single by Tyler Fontenot (1-for-3).

Dillon Brown earned the win as he struck out two, walked one and allowed three earned runs on seven hits.

All-Stars 9, Eunice 2

The Louisiana All-Stars jumped out to a 6-1 lead and cruised to a 9-2 win over the Oilers in the second game on Saturday.

Eunice scored in the first inning when Seemion (1-for-2) tripled and scored on an All-Star error.

Eunice would not score again until the fifth frame when Matthew Bari was hit by a pitch, moved into scoring position on a single by Olivier (1-for-2) and crossed home plate on another All-Star miscue.

Bradley Bergeron suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on four hits with a strikeout and three walks over two innings of work.

Eunice 4, Raiders 2

The Oilers pushed across three runs in the third inning and added another run in the fifth to seal the 4-2 win over the Baton Rouge Raiders.

The Raiders scored in the first and third innings and kept the Oilers off base until the third-inning explosion.

Leger walked, Austin Young (1-for-2) singled and both scored on triple by Tyler Fontenot (1-for-2, BB).

Fontenot then scored on a singled by Turner (1-for-3).

The Oilers added an insurance run in the fifth when Seemion (1-for-3) singled and stole his way around the bases.

Eunice returns to American Legion action tonight with a road trip to the Crowley Pios.

The Oilers will host the Opelousas General Seminoles at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
