LAKE ARTHUR - The St. Edmund Lady Jays cruised to an 11-1 season-opening road win over Lake Arthur on Tuesday.

The Lady Jays scored four runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone for the contest.

Brooke Logan Fontenot walked, Brooke Fontenot singled and Ashley Miller reached on a one-out error to load the bases.

Katie Richard cleared the bases to give the Lady Jays a 3-0 lead.

Richard scored on a sacrifice by Olivia LaFleur as St. Edmund held a 4-0 advantage.

Lake Arthur closed the gap to 4-1 in the fourth, but the Lady Jays exploded for six runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Richard walked, while LaFleur and Caitlyn Olivier followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases.

Blair Wallett doubled in two runs and Brooke Logan Fontenot followed with a two-out double.

Brooke Fontenot reached on an error to plate another Lady Jay run.

St. Edmund completed the mercy-rule win as LaFleur singled in the top of the sixth and stole her way around the bases.

Brooke Logan Fontenot pitched a no-hitter over the first three innings and finished with six strikeouts.

She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored.

Olivier went two innings and fanned four,walked one and allowed one run.

Jamie LeBouef closed the game and allowed a hit and two walks but Lady Jay defense did not allow a late rally.

Brooke Fontenot went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Richard went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

LaFleur and Olivier both went 2-for-4.

St. Edmund (1-0) travels to Opelousas Catholic (1-0) at 4 p.m. today.
