Mamou Head Coach Kim Manuel and the Lady Demons got revenge over John Curtis Christian Academy with their 14-9 win in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs on Tuesday. The Lady Patriots had defeated Mamou two years ago in the quarter-finals at the state tournament in Sulphur.

The Lady Demons exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second inning after falling behind 5-0 in the top half of the block.

From that point, Mamou would go on to score three more runs in the bottom of the third inning and two runs in the bottom of the fourth frame.

Mamou collected nine hits in the contest and took advantage of three errors committed by the visiting JCCA team.

The Lady Patriots ended the game with nine runs on 11 hits and took advantage of four defensive errors from the MHS defense.

Katie Deville got the win on the hill. She worked five innings and surrendered eight hits and three earned runs. Cydni James did the job in the circle for two innings. She allowed just three hits and four earned runs.

Mamou was led on offense by Amanda Fontenot. The senior went 3-4 at the dish with a pair of doubles and five runs batted in. She also scored once. Molli Duplechin was 2-3 with the tick. She stroked a double and brought in a pair of RBIs. Amy Fontenot was 2-3 at the plate. She scored three times and brought in two runs. Katie Landreneau completed her day at the office with a 2-4 job. She scored three times and brought in a run.

Mamou will now face the second seed, Rosepine. The Lady Eagles defeated Episcopal of Baton Rouge 10-0 in the first round of the playoffs. Rosepine is led by junior pitcher Christina Hamilton. She has been the starter since her eighth grade year and is also a huge threat on offense. Mamou has to travel to RHS and will play at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
