UBS holding blood drive Monday
United Blood Services will be holding a blood drive in Eunice on Monday, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Acadian Medical Center, in the bloodmobile.
All donors will receive a red, white and blue t-shirt and will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a pair of tickets to the Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge, May 26-27.

Jean Lafitte center hosts documentary
The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice will host a screening of the documentary film T-Galop: a Louisiana Horse Story at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Admission is free. T-Galop was written and directed and produced by Conni Castille, Acadiana folklorist and filmmaker. Castille, a Breaux Bridge native, traces the history of horse culture in Louisiana from colonial times through the present day, with special emphasis on Cajun and Creole cowboy culture.

CFMA Festival Saturday
The annual CFMA Acadiana Charter Chapter will have its festival
Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Hwy. 190E in Eunice.
Live bands will include Travis Benoit Et Allons Danser and Ellis Vanicor & The Lacassine Playboys.
Door prizes will be given away.
$7 Admission per person. Children 12 years and under are admitted free.
There will be a CakeWalk Auction, food and drinks will be sold.
No ice chests are allowed.

benefit May 20
There will be BBQ Pork dinners (with all trimmings) sale to benefit bone cancer patient Roger D. Burrow on Sunday, May 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Joyce’s Lounge, located at 301 E. Maple in Eunice.
Donations of $6 per plates will be accepted.

St. Landry CASA seeking volunteers
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of St. Landry is seeking volunteers who wish to help make a difference in a life of an abused or neglected child.
CASA volunteers are assigned by courts to advocate for children referred to the courts by the Department of Children and Family Services.
Volunteers meet with their assigned child at least once a month and attend court hearings.
Prospective CASA volunteers must undergo an extensive background check and successfully complete 32 hours of training.
The next cycle of training is scheduled to begin May 22.

MLK Committee
meeting May 24
The City-Wide MLK Celebration Committee is meeting monthly to plan the 2013 celebration.
The next meeting will be May 24 at 6 p.m. at the South East Center. The committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month.

EHS Class of 1971 Spring Get-Together
Eunice High Class of 1971 will have a Spring Get Together Saturday, May 26 at 6 p.m. at the home and poolside of Gayle Fruge Myers.
Myers’ home is located at 5504 Eunice/Iota Highway.
Each classmate is asked to bring a finger food and BYOB.
