The sixth annual EHS Alumni Tournament will be held on Aug. 17-Aug. 19 at the Eunice Recreational Complex. Team captain is still need for class of 1979.
The deadline to sign up is today (Aug. 5) at 4 p.m.
A mandatory team captains meeting will be held at EHS today at 5 p.m.

EMTL registration until Aug. 21
The Eunice Men’s Tennis League Fall registration is currently under way until Aug. 21 at the law office of Terry Hoychick, 141 S. 6th Street.
First date of play is set for Aug. 27. Dues are $30.
Captains will meet on Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
All men 18 years or older are welcomed and encouraged to join. From beginners to the highly skilled, there will be a place for you.
Matches are set for every Monday evening for 12 weeks.

Eunice High School will hold late registration Monday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for those students who missed registration last week. Classes begin Friday.

Blood Drive coming
to city on Monday
The 14th annual 99.1 KXKC and United Blood Services Tour de Life Blood Drive will be at the Eunice Walmart on Monday from noon until 6 p.m.
United Blood Services and 99.1 KXKC will visit several locations throughout Acadiana in an effort to increase our community blood supply.
UBS is urging the public to donate blood as donations across Acadiana have dipped this summer and blood usage has increased.
All Tour de Life donors will receive a special:

There will be an Open House at Highland Elementary Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Open House will begin in the school’s cafeteria where there will be an introduction of the staff and afterwards parents are invited to the classrooms.
Parents may bring their child’s school supplies during this time and pay their child’s activity fee of $30.

ELTL set Aug. 13
The Eunice Ladies Tennis League’s fall registration will begin Monday, Aug. 13 and continue through Aug. 24 at the Eunice City Hall’s Mayor’s office from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day.
Registration fee is $25 which includes 12 weeks of play and an end-of-the-season banquet. A player must be 18 years of age or older and have knowledge of the game, score keeping, and court etiquette.
The ELTL welcomes ladies from all surrounding areas.
The first date of play will be Sept. 4.

La. Statehood Exhibit Jean Lafitte
The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice will host the exhibit “Becoming Louisiana: The Path to Statehood” in honor of the bicentennial of Louisiana statehood.
“Becoming Louisiana” will be available for viewing from Aug. 16 until Sept. 27. Created by curator Herman Mhire, graphic designer Kate Ferry, and Louisiana historian Charles Elliot, the exhibit documents the role that Louisiana’s geography and cultural heritage played when Louisiana became the 18th state.
Admission to the center and exhibit is free. The center is located at 250 West Park Ave.

GTLBC hosts Male Chorus musical
The Greater True Light Baptist Church will host its 11th annual Male Chorus Musical on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, Aug. 19 during its 8:30 a.m. service in conjunction with the church’s Annual Men’s Day Service.
