The American Legion Post #371 will have a Ham and Turkey Bingo at the American Legion Hall in Iota on Friday at 6 p.m.

Frontline Youth Garage Sale Sat.

Frontline Youth Group of Faith Christian Worship Center in Eunice will host a Fundraiser Garage Sale at 901 West Peach on Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon to help raise money for Deeper Youth Summer Camp.

The Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church in Crowley, located at Northern and Hoffpauir, will have a special event on Trinity Sunday.

“A Gathering of Old Friends” is an event to call together all those with a connection to Trinity Episcopal Church.

There will be a covered dish luncheon afterwards the Parish House.

GTLBC annual Women’s Day Sun.

The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice invites the public to attend its annual Women’s Day Celebration on Sunday during its 8:30 a.m. worship service.

The church is located on 341 Anne Street in Eunice.

Sister Audry Batiste will be giving the spoken Word.

St. Thomas More

sets VBS Monday

St. Thomas More Church invites all children to its Vacation Bible School “Son Treasure Island” Monday through June 8 beginning each day at 9 a.m. until noon.

The bible school is designed for children kindergarten age through sixth-grade. The cost is $10 per child.

Registration forms can be picked up at St. Thomas More Church, deadline to register is May 29.

FBC Vacation Bible School Mon.

The First Baptist Church in Eunice will host its Vacation Bible School “Sky, Where Kid’s Imagination takes Flight,” on the week of Monday through June 8 beginning at 9 a.m. until noon.

The VBS is designed for children pre-k through sixth-grade age group.

sets day camp

Acadian Baptist Center will be hosting “Meeting Jesus” day camp, Monday through June 8. There will be swimming and other activities.

The price is $70 per person. Campers in Pre-K through 3rd grade are invited to attend.

CFMA Free lessons set for Tuesday

The Cajun French Music Association Acadiana Charter Chapter will be having Free Lessons for Youth and Adult, Accordion, fiddle, guitar and dance at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, located at 250 West Park Avenue in Eunice every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning this Tuesday through June 21 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Registration for lessons will take place at 6:30 p.m. prior to first class.

Kiwanis shrimp etouffee fund raiser

The Eunice Kiwanis Club will be hosting its 4th Annual Etouffee Dinner fund raiser. This year will be shrimp etouffee, potato salad and a roll.

Tickets are $8 each.

Dinners can be picked up at the VFW hall across from Eunice High on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Part of the proceeds from the dinner sales go to benefit the Eunice Community Health Center, which provides free or at-cost health care for the working uninsured and underinsured.

Tickets can be purchased at Maple Ave Pharmacy, at the clinic, or from any Kiwanis Club member.

Wed. ceremony, training for KAB

Eunice will be certified as a Keep America Beautiful City after the Board of Directors training seminar on Wednesday at 4:30 pm. The ceremony will take place in the city council meeting room on the second floor of city hall.

The training is 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the public is invited to the training as well as the ceremony

However, those wishing to attend must call for a reservation since seating is limited. Those interested in the Keep America Beautiful program, or who would would like to get involved, please attend.

Lakeview BBQ by the Beach June 8

Lakeview BBQ on The Beach will be held June 8 and 9 at LakeView Park & Beach benefitting The Boy Scouts Troop & Crew #425.

There will be different BBQ cooking catergories to enter in, such as sauce, brisket, pork spare ribs, chicken and more. Also a Greatest Hamburger Competition will be held on Friday, June 8.

La. Cajun Culture

Celebration June 9

The Louisiana Cajun Culture & Music Club will host their 27th Annual Un Celebration de Cajun Leur Culture avec Leur Musique on Saturday, June 9 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice.

Jason Frey will provide Cajun entertainment.

There will be Cajun food, drinks, dancing, and door prizes.

Admission $6 per person. No ice chests allowed.

All proceeds will be used for preservation of the Cajun Language, Culture and music.

Waste tire dropoff

set in Acadia

CROWLEY – Acadia, Iberia, and Vermillion Soil & Water Conservation Districts will be sponsoring a waste tire collection June 11, 12, & 13 from 7:30 a.m.-noon and from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Acadia collection point will be at the Acadia SWCD office which is located in the LSU Ag center building -- 157 Cherokee Dr., STE C, Crowley. You must check in with the office before you drop off tires.

Only 5 tires per person per load; tires must weigh under 400 lbs. ; no rims will be accepted.

You must be able to unload your tires with no assistance.

Summer Culture Fun Days June 18

Summer Culture Fun Days camp will be held at the Prairie Acadian Culture Center on Park Ave. on June 18-22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for ages 9 & 10.

Registration is free, limited to 20 per camp.

Another Culture Fun Days Camp is set for July 16-20 from 8:30 a.m. until noon for ages 7 & 8.

AARP Drivers Safety class June 19

AARP will be presenting a Driver’s Safety Course on Tuesday, June 19 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Acadian Medical Center’s Acadian Room. Classes will target 50 and older adults.

United Way raffle for Imag. Library

The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is sponsoring a raffle to benefit the local Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Tickets are $2 each or three tickets for $5.

First prize is a Nook, an e-card with 25 books, a year’s pass for four to the Natural History Museum in Lafayette and a basket of books.

Second prize is an e-card with 25 books, a basket of books, and a year’s pass for four to the Children’s Museum in Lafayette.

Third prize is an e-card with 25 books and a basket of books.

Drawing will be held near the end of June.

St. Thomas More KofC BBQ June 24

The St. Thomas More Knights Of Columbus 10428 will be having a BBQ Boston Butt with trimmings plate lunches sale on Sunday, June 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with pickup behind the social hall of the church.

meeting June 28

The City-Wide MLK Celebration Committee is meeting monthly to plan the 2013 celebration.

The next meeting will be June 28 at 6 p.m. at the South East Center. The committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month.
