Unbelted, woman killed when her vehicle hits culvert, overturns

A Gonzales woman was killed early Saturday in a St. Landry Parish accident.

According to investigating troopers, shortly before 3:00 a.m., a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by 21-year-old Tabatha Gaudin was traveling south on LA 103.

For unknown reasons, Gaudin failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Her vehicle entered a ditch, struck a culvert, and overturned.

Gaudin was not restrained and died as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner.

A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Routine toxicology samples are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation
