The weather halted STAC’s chances for their first win of the summer Wednesday as the Eunice High-based team had runners on base in the sixth inning before the rains stopped the game with Avoyelles leading 1-0.

The pitching duo of Kirsten West (three strikeouts) and Jori Lejeune (two strikeouts) was impressive for STAC, as the defense played well after Avoyelles scored the only run of the game on an error.

“The defense played well and our two pitchers did a great job,” STAC coach Liz Hebert said. “We just couldn’t get a runner past third base.”

Camille Faul went 2-for-2 for STAC, while Emily Turner and West each added a hit in the game.

“I would like to think we could have won the game in the sixth inning before the rains came and washed it away,” Hebert added.

STAC entertains Beau Chene on Thursday at the Lady Bobcat Field.
