Quirk earns Player of the Week honors

St. Edmund’s Trey Quirk scored on receptions of 27, 3 and 34 yards in the Blue Jays’ 39-7 win over Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.

Quirk finished with four catches for 98 yards and also was a contributor on defense with four solo tackles, including a tackle for loss.

For his efforts, Quirk has been selected as the Eunice News Player of the Week for the ninth week of the football season.

St. Edmund quarterback Doug Zaunbrecher completed 12-of-17 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns.

Adam Wimberley gained 138 yards on 15 carries including touchdown runs of 61 and six yards for the Blue Jays.

Basile quarterback Matt Pruitt completed 16-of-22 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the Bearcats 42-8 win over South Cameron.

Drake Ledoux caught six passes for 101 yards including a 16-yard touchdown and also scored on a four-yard run for the Bearcats. Jake Fournerat gained 58 yards on six carries and also scored twice (4,1). He also had one reception for 43 yards.

Eunice quarterback Trenon Trosclair carried the ball 14 times for 133 yards with two touchdowns (63, 1) in the Bobcats’ 35-24 overtime win against Crowley. Trosclair also completed 4-of-8 passes for 59 yards.

John Ross Johnson gained 104 yards on 24 carries for Eunice, including s four-yard touchdown run.

Iota’s Kyle Leger carried the ball 17 times for 120 yards with touchdown runs of 45 and seven yards in the Bulldogs’ 27-7 win over Pine Prairie.

Mamou quarterback Ben Israel completed 7-of- 20 passes for 86 yards in the Green Demons’ 39-8 loss to Lake Arthur.

Church Point’s Von Duplechain gained 81 yards on 15 carries in the Bears’ 35-7 loss to Westlake.
