Bobcats open District 4-3A with win

PRAIRIE RONDE - The Eunice High Bobcats opened District 4-3A with a 50-32 victory over the Northwest High Raiders Friday night.

Coach Robert Trent’s Bobcats (5-9,1-0) used a strong second-half surge to defeat the Raiders (7-11,0-1).

The Bobcats led 15-14 at halftime as both offenses struggled to score in the opening two quarters. Senior D’aundric Johnson had six points to lead the Bobcats in the first half. Northwest was led by K. Rosette with six points.

In the third quarter, the Bobcats began to find their offense as Derek Denton and Vondray Vallare led the charge. The Bobcats used a 17-8 advantage in the third quarter to lead 32-22 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats put the game away in the final quarter by out-scoring the Raiders by an 18-10 margin for an 18-point victory.

For the game, the Bobcats were led in scoring by Vallare with 13 points. Denton added nine points and Johnson had eight, though both were saddled with four fouls during thel latter stages of the contest.

Ben Allison picked up some of the scoring slack in the second half with eight points. Warren Guidry added six for the Bobcats.

Rosette led Northwest with 10 points. Derrell Joubert had nine points for the Raiders, while Michael Lastrapes added six points and Henry Senegal added four points.

Eunice High will host the Crowley High Gents on Tuesday at the Eunice High gym.
