IOWA - The Eunice High Lady Bobcats kept within striking distance but could never quite catch the Iowa Lady Yellow Jackets, falling 43-34 here Friday night in District 4-3A action.

Iowa (11-8, 4-3) managed to top the Lady Bobcats 11-9 in the opening quarter, but the difference in the outcome probably came in the second quarter as the Lady Jackets got the best of Eunice by a 14-7 margin to hold a 25-16 lead.

Alicia George had the hot hand for the Lady Jackets as she hit three field goals, including one from three-point range, and a free throw for eight points. Adrianna Guillory had four points for the Lady Cats in the second quarter.

Eunice senior Brandy Doucet had five points of the Lady Cats’ six points in a third quarter which saw Iowa take a 9-6 advantage. Patricia Guillory had four points to pace the Lady Jackets’ attack in that quarter.

Eunice finally got the best of the Lady Jackets in the fourth quarter by an 11-9 margin, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 11-point disadvantage heading into the final eight minutes.

George led Iowa with 14 points. Tabitha Myers had nine, while Shaianne Anderson and Guillory added eight points apiece.

Doucet had her season-best point total of 16 to lead the Lady Bobcats. Doucet had seven field goals, including two from beyond the three-point arc. Kirsten Prout added seven points and Guillory finished with six for the Lady Cats.

Eunice (6-14, 1-6) will host the Northwest Lady Raiders on Tuesday in 4-3A action.
