Doctor dies while vacationing

ALEXANDRIA – Services will be Thursday in Cairo for noted family physician Hussein Monir. He died at age 55 while visiting family in his native Egypt.

Monir had been with Brian Clinic here since 1994 and in 2000 was honored be the Louisiana Academy of Family Physician Foundation for outstanding research among family physicians in private practice.

Survivors include his wife and three children.

Businessman, award winner

PLAQUEMINE – Services will be Thursday for retired Wildlife & Fisheries educator and businessman Vincent Pizzolato. He died June 27 at age 88.

He owned and operated Cottage Tourist Courts Motel for 25 years, was a former Outstanding Young Man of Louisiana, on the AMVETS National Executive Committee.

He won the coveted Charles E. Dunbar Award from the La. Civil Service League.

Survivors include his wife Jean and a daughter.
