St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice served as the setting for the evening, Nuptial Mass ceremony uniting Jennifer Leigh Burge and Dr. James Wade O’Neal, IV in Holy Matrimony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Burge of Eunice. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade O’Neal of New Roads. Grandparents of the bride are the late Milton and Mary Courville of Eunice, and Jane Richard and the late Eugene Burge of Basile. Grandparents of the groom are Al and Lou Smith of Maringouin and Cletta O’Neal and the late Dr. James O’Neal of Maringouin.

The ceremony was held on June 4 at 7 p.m. with Bishop Shelton J. Fabre officiating. Altar servers were Jake and Alex Sonnier, sons of Mike and Becky Sonnier of Eunice, Logan Manuel, son of Steve and Holly Manuel of Eunice, and William Jewell, cousin of the groom, son of Stephen and Mary Jewell of New Roads.

Readers during the ceremony were Gene Burge, uncle of the bride and Lauren Johnson King, cousin of the groom.

Gift bearers were Cathy Gonzales; godmother of the bride and Kellie Helm, godmother of the groom.

Musicians during the ceremony included Connie Beaugh, pianist and organist, Arien and David Harper, vocalists, and Joe Stemplewski, trumpeter.

Ushers were Jon Michael Courville of Eunice and Wesley Miller of New Orleans; both cousins of the bride.

The bride, given away by her father Brent Burge, was stunning in a Pronovias gown of ivory silk duchess satin. The ruched fitted gown featured a sweetheart neckline with straps and a flared- out lower skirt with a beautiful chapel train.

The bride carried a hand-held bouquet of white calla lilies, lavender hydrangeas, dark purple tulips, and small green hydrangeas. Intertwined in the stems of the bouquet was a rosary that belonged to the bride’s maternal grandmother, as well as a handkerchief that belonged to the bride’s maternal grandfather.

Serving as maid of honor was Jessilyn Burge of Lake Charles, sister of the bride.

Bridal attendants included Renee Wilson and Ali O’Neal, both sisters of the groom; Sarah Deshotel and Katie Deshotel, both friends of the bride.

The attendants wore a variety of knee-length, crinkled silk chiffon dresses in a beautiful wisteria color. They carried arm bouquets of dark purple tulips and green hydrangeas.

Serving as flower girls were Roury and Iris Thibodeaux, daughters of Anya and Eric Thibodeaux of Iota, both cousins of the bride. The girls wore elegant candlelight tea- length dresses made of silk dupionni featuring an empire style and a circular skirt. The dresses were designed and made especially for the big day by their “Nana,” Michelle Brown.

The mother of the bride wore a taupe colored dress with cap-sleeves, angled tiers and a long skirt. The mother of the groom wore a soft-royal blue knee length dress. Both mothers carried arm bouquets of white calla lilies, purple hydrangeas, and dark purple tulips.

Serving as best man was James Wade O’Neal, III, father of the groom.

Groomsmen were John Wilson, brother-in-law of the groom, Jeffery Burge, brother of the bride, Dr. Brandon Haynes and Dr. Ross Doize, both friends of the groom. The groom and groomsmen wore classic black, two button notched tuxedos from Mary Ellen’s in Lafayette.

Serving as ring bearers were Hudson Manuel, godchild of the bride, son of Steve and Holly Manuel of Eunice and Andrew Jewell, godchild of the groom, son of Stephen and Mary Jewell of New Roads.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at Nick’s on Second in Eunice.

After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, the couple has made their home in Charleston, South Carolina.
