City Lake will remain closed for the forseeable future, according to Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis. It borders on the south the site of last May’s derailment.
The Eunice Attorney’s Group reports that it has 3,500 proposed class-action signees as a result of the derailment and another 2,000 are signed with other law firms.
St. Edmund came up one run short in the state baseball championship game, falling to Oak Grove 2-1. The Blue Jays won the regional baseball title, defeating Mangham 13-2. Cedar Creek was next in the quarter-finals and the Jays beat St. John’s in the semi-finals. Pitcher Kevin Ardoin led the way.
Germaine Courville is the new District 13 School Board member, defeating Bert Miller in a runoff. She succeeds Jen Nagata.
Newly elected members of the board of the Eunice Ladies Tennis League are Alison LeJeune, Cheryl Lomas and Blanche Fontenot. They will serve two-year terms.
Angela West has recived her LLM degree in tax and estate planning from the University of Houston Law Center. She previously graduated cum laude from Southern University Law School. She holds a BA from the University of Houston.
