Three men were arrested Tuesday after a watchful caller reported to police that strangers were on the back porch of an out-of-town neighbor’s house.

According to Eunice Police, a call came in at 6:30 p.m., reporting three men in the backyard of a neighboring house while the homeowners were away.

Police arriving on the scene reportedly saw the three men near the rear deck and ordered them to stop, but all three fled the premises, according to police.

Police said a foot chase then ensued through several yards and over multiple fences.

The trio were finally apprehended several blocks away when they observed a K9 being deployed, police said.

According to police, the rear door and door frame suffered damage, apparently from the three men attempted to break into the house.

Shaiheen Mitchell, 281 S. Cane, Mercedes Thomas, 896 Hwy. 13 and Brackus Guillory, 1120 Sittig Rd., were each charged with attempted simple burglary and resisting an officer by flight.

They appeared before Judge Alonzo Harris Wednesday morning, and bond was set at $6,500 each.
