Summer Culture Fun Days this week
Summer Culture Fun Days camp will be held at the Prairie Acadian Culture Center on Park Ave. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for ages 9 & 10.
Registration is free, limited to 20 per camp.
Another Culture Fun Days Camp is set for July 16-20 from 8:30 a.m. until noon for ages 7 & 8.

Unity Fly. Worship holds revival
The Unity Family Worship Center located at 1220 East Maple in Eunice will have a week of special services running Monday through Friday from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. with a study of God’s word, and 7:30 p.m. with a worship service.
A guest evangelist will minister each evening.

AARP Drivers Safety class Tuesday
AARP will be presenting a Driver’s Safety Course on Tuesday from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Acadian Medical Center’s Acadian Room. Classes will target 50 and older adults.

Free vaccination
clinic scheduled
A free dog and cat vaccination clinic will be held on the Eunice City Hall parking lot on Thursday.
Representatives of the St. Landry Health Unit will be on hand to administer the shots and register animals.
The animals must be three months of age and over. Cats must be brought to the clinic in a restrained manner.,
The clinic will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

United Way raffle for Imag. Library
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is sponsoring a raffle to benefit the local Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Tickets are $2 each or three tickets for $5.
First prize is a Nook, an e-card with 25 books, a year’s pass for four to the Natural History Museum in Lafayette and a basket of books.
Second prize is an e-card with 25 books, a basket of books, and a year’s pass for four to the Children’s Museum in Lafayette.
Third prize is an e-card with 25 books and a basket of books.
Drawing will be held near the end of June.

Safe Dating
program June 26
Faith House will present a summer program “Love Is,” on Tuesday, June 26 at the Eunice Public Library from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The program will give tips on safe dating, education and awareness.
The event is free and participants, girls ages 12-17, are asked to bring a bagged lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

MLK Committee
meeting June 28
The City-Wide MLK Celebration Committee is meeting monthly to plan the 2013 celebration.
The next meeting will be June 28 at 6 p.m. at the South East Center. The committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month.

EJHS announces registration July 30
Registration for seventh and eighth graders at Eunice Jr. High School will be held on Monday, July 30, from 8 a.m . until to 2 p.m.
Students must be present with legal guardian and are asked to wear uniform shirt because ID pictures will be taken.
Registration fees are $50. To register, a parent or guardain must present current July or August 2012 utility bill, light, water or gas bill in order to register.
New registrants from outside public system must have birth certificate, social security card, updated immunization records, final report card from 2011/2012 school year and spring 2012 standardized test scores.

United Way holds school supply drive
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is asking local communities to help “Stuff the Bus”, a school supply drive for local students and teachers, from July 30 to Aug. 3.
Items needed include backpacks, crayons, calculators, paper towels, scissors, three-ring binders, folders, markers, pencils, pens, hand sanitizer, rulers, paper, glue sticks and more.
Walmart gift cards and cash will also be accepted.
Items can be brought to the St. Landry Parish School Board office in Opelousas, Ville Platte City Hall or Eunice Winn Dixie on Aug. 3 between noon and 3 p.m.

Word of Life Car Raffle set Aug. 4
The Word of Life Fellowship and Academy will be raffling off a clean, grey 2006 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has great gas mileage and has an extended warranty.
The raffle will be held Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. at 3304 Hwy. 190 E in Eunice. Winner need not be present and is responsible for tax, title and license.

EHS Alumni Tourney meeting
The sixth annual EHS Alumni Tournament will be held on Aug. 17-Aug. 19 at the Eunice Recreational Complex. Team captains are still needed for classes of 1979, 1971 and 1974.
The deadline to sign up is Sunday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m.
A mandatory team captains meeting will be held at EHS on Aug. 5 at 5 p.m.
Early check in begins at 4 p.m. All teams “Ball order forms” are due by July 1.

Open House
at Highland Aug. 7
There will be an Open House at Highland Elementary Aug. 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Open House will begin in the school’s cafeteria where there will be an introduction of the staff and afterwards parents are invited to the classrooms.
Parents may bring their child’s school supplies during this time and pay their child’s activity fee of $30.
