The owner of a market on East Maple Avenue is accused of incest and other crimes.

Mohamed Muftah’s alleged victims are a seven-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Their mother reported the alleged actions to police, who said the alleged improper and illegal activity began in 2010.

Meanwhile, a separate investigation into alleged drug distribution at Muftah’s Amigo’s Market was under way.

During this investigation undercover operatives were used to allegedly purchase synthetic marijuana at the market.

The undercover purchases and transactions were captured on audio and video surveillance devices, a news release said.

Muftah, 41, of Yemen descent, was booked on the following charges: sexual battery, aggravated incest, distribution of synthetic marijuana, distribution of drug paraphernalia and violation of the Uniform CDS Law (school zone).

Judge Ellis Daigle set his bond at $25,500 on the drug charges and required formal application for bond hearing on the sex charges.
