EUNICE – Mattie Fontenot Veillon, 95, died on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Bayou Vista Nursing Home in Bunkie, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Nathan Comeaux Celebrant.

She was a retired surgical and floor nurse at the old Eunice Hospital located at Park Avenue & Seventh Street and later at Moosa Memorial Hospital. She retired to a private duty practice and later continued to be a caregiver as a Pink Lady Volunteer. She was also a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Eunice and a member of the Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include a son, Willie W. “Bill” Ardoin, Jr. and wife Kay of Ville Platte; brother, Dewey Fontenot of Lake Charles; sister, Winnie Ortego of Ville Platte; son-in-law, Bill H. Ledford of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded her in death by her husbands, W.W. “Bill” Ardoin, Sr. and Bussie Veillon; step-children Elsie A. Texada, Joseph Ellis Ardoin and Verna Rae “Bobbie” Ardoin Ledford; siblings, Edward Fontenot, Jeffery Fontenot, Laddie F. Cefalu, and Lana F. LaFleur; and her parents Joseph Fontenot and Amy Perron Fontenot.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, July 24 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, July 25 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Tuesday evening.
