An investigation continues into the alleged aggravated rape of an 82-year-old Eunice Alzheimer’s patient.

According to police, a physician caring for the woman at Acadian Medical Center last Thursday discovered evidence that she had been raped.

He contacted police and evidence obtained at the hospital emergency room was turned over to the State Police Crime Lab.

Police said the woman is a resident of an elderly assisted living facility but could provide no additional information.
