A Eunice police officer was forced to kill a dog Saturday afternoon when the animal attacked him.

According to police reports, the officer responded to a 1:30 p.m. call regarding a child allegedly being attacked by a pit bull on West Oak.

When the officer approached the scene, the dog turned on him and was "euthanized", according to the incident log.

A report on the child's condition was not available.

The dog's alleged owner, Margarita Warren, 22, 1031 West Oak, was charged with allowing a dog to run at large and received a City Court summons.
