BATON ROUGE -- Services were Thursday for the Rev. Lloyd Dougals Fuller, who at the time was the youngest US Marine ever to attain the rank of master sergeant.

Fuller died Sunday at age 85.

He was promoted to master sergeant at age 21, a result of distinguished service during the Battle of Guadalcanal during World War II.

Following the war, he became an ordained minister.

Survivors include his wife Irene, a son and a daughter.
