MINDEN - Eunice grabbed a 13-7 win Saturday over District Seven East rival Jeff Davis Bank to advance to the finals of the American Legion Juniors state tournament.

The two teams met again in the title game on Sunday and Eunice earned a 6-1 victory to grab the state title.

The Junior Oilers opened tournament play Friday with a 15-9 win over the Cajun Sting (New Iberia).

The Oilers then stunned host Minden with a come-from-behind 8-7 win Friday night.

After scoring four runs to force a 7-7 tie in the seventh inning, the Junior Oilers earned the extra-inning win as John Ross Johnson tripled and scored on a bases-loaded single by Brett Darbonne.

The Louisiana American Legion Junior Baseball State Tournament was played at Griffith Memorial Stadium.
