1 teen dead, 2 seriously injured in head-on crash

Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers responded a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on a. 70 near Oak Harbor Drive in St. Martin
Parish at around 9:30 p.m. Oct.5. The crash later took the life of 16-year-old Destiny Boyd of Napoleonville.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2014 GMC Sierra, driven 24-year-old Brandon Clausen of Clark, South Dakota, was southbound on a. 70 when it traveled into the northbound lane and struck a 2009 Honda Accord occupied by three teenage females. The driver, 17-year-old Darian Gros, suffered moderate injuries. Boyd was the front passenger. She suffered serious injuries which she succumbed at a Baton Rouge area hospital. The third occupant, a 16-year-old female, was the rear passenger and suffered serious injuries. All three teens were wearing their seat belts.
Clausen, who was not restrained but suffered only minor injuries, submitted to a breath sample which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.179g%.
Following Boyd’s death on Oct. 6, Clausen’s initial charges have been upgraded to: Driving left of center, No seat belt, Driving while impaired, vehicular negligent injuring, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, and vehicular homicide. Clausen was booked into St. Martin Parish Jail
