St. Landry Parish District Chad Pitre reports a man was convicted Thursday of the execution-style murder of an Opelousas man at his home. A jury deliberated “well under an hour” to reach a guilty verdict against Kendall Singleton, 41, of La Place, in the June 16, 2019, murder of Joseph Stanley Boxie Jr., 49, at his home on Martin Luther King Drive on Father’s Day. Boxie had just returned home in the early morning hours in his white 2011 Cadillac and was exiting his vehicle whcn Singleton appeared with a short barrel, AK-47 style pistol. Pitre, in a news release, stated a pathologist testified that at least 10 rounds were shot into Boxie’s head andbody.
