Memorial Day ceremony set May 27
The VFW Post 8971, American Legion Post 129 and DAV Chapter 19, will have a Memorial Day ceremony at 6 p.m. May 27 at the Rotary Foundation corner at South 2nd and Park Avenue.
Julius James Gaspard passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the age of 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Father Martin Laird officiating.
Lana Gail Ardoin McCloy passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the age of 76. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. Cremation will follow.
Jacob Hunter Miller passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the age of 38. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy McManus officiating.

On Thursday, The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified that Daylon Lewis Rainville and another occupant that was inside the vehicle were stopped in the early morning hours in Shreveport for a traffic stop.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette celebrated its Spring 2024 graduates during Commencement ceremonies May 10 and 11. A total of 1,608 degrees were conferred.
